I won't share where out of desire to maintain a friendship and not bother someone working with relatively meaningless issues. more so, it's hard to verify my credibility and even if my friend were to go on record that would likely be where the credibility chain ends. this would possibly put tension on to end my friends employment as well. the issue is not actually meaningless but sharing the source is when if accomplishes little and creates risk.
that said about four years ago a friend at a large tech Corp indicated said Corp had an experimental demo room to emulate anyones speach with a computer. a room where any employee could walk in follow a computers props to repeat a few words and or sentences then with in moments a profile was generated and they could type any sentance then hear it read back in their voice. their own voice with emulation of their speaking style and inflections.
this friend and some legitimit internet news sources have indicate the ability to do this with video image is already doable by large tech firms.
it's likely this will be replicated or leaked to /by the hands of the public at large. really it's a matter of time.
which should raise the question what are courts doing to prepare for a video that shows someone commiting a crime but may be entirely computer generated?
today's legal system seems like it's usually based more on upholding the belife justice might exist than seeking out truth. my guess is unless it's brought to and maintained in the publics conscious minds that this is possible, absolutely no need will be seen to adjust for it.
ie they all belive that video is real, he or she must have done it. case closed.
the biggest issue I see is if you use any modern smart phone, 2 companies already have a huge database of your voice. ie enough exists where some orgs could sell any state actor or otherwise a vocal profile or maybe even video profile file and now what you say or do may not be anything you've said or done.
but hey csi and or NCIS sandwich the news broadcast that maybe mentioned this once in passing right?
